Painting Description:
“The Four Faced Liar (Shandon Bells)” is an A1 oil painting (36W x 48H inches) created en plein air. This piece captures the iconic Shandon Bells, a beloved landmark of Cork City, and the dynamic atmosphere of painting in Ireland’s ever-changing weather. The artwork reflects the artist’s joyful challenge of adapting techniques to fluctuating conditions.
Artist Statement:
This painting was created under the guidance of Ukrainian Master Artist Volodymyr Rudenko, allowing me to revisit and refine traditional oil painting techniques while integrating my own contemporary style. “The Four Liars” holds deep significance for Cork residents, representing not only the passage of time but also the vibrant community spirit of the city.
The Shandon Bells, part of St. Anne’s Church, are renowned for their rich history and melodic chimes that resonate throughout Cork. This en plein air experience was a rewarding journey, merging the timeless methods of old masters with my own artistic perspective. This artwork is a celebration of both my artistic exploration and the cultural heritage of Cork.
