Irish Art In Cork
Artist Statement
*Cork Marina: The Beauty of the Pandemic* was created from reference photographs taken at Cork City Harbour during the pandemic.
Amid the uncertainty, worry and disruption of those times, moments of unexpected beauty could still be found. In the quiet of the morning, the harbour offered a sense of calm, space and stillness—revealing a different kind of beauty when we paused to look beyond the chaos.
This mixed-media work combines an acrylic base on canvas, Artisan water soluble oils, chalk pastel and lino printing. The layered materials reflect the changing atmosphere of the harbour and the contrasting emotions of the pandemic period.
