About the Artist

Onóir O’Brien is a Cork-based visual artist with a deep connection to her city’s rich history and character. Her artistic journey is informed by a Fine Art Degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Humanities from University College Cork, blending traditional artistic skills with a contemporary understanding of digital technologies. This unique background allows her to explore themes of cultural identity and heritage in innovative and engaging ways.

“Echo Boy,” a chalk pastel painting, captures the essence of the beloved Cork figure, Michael O’Regan. This piece resonates with many Corkonians, evoking a sense of familiarity and home. Exhibited at Shandon Art Studio for Culture Night, “Echo Boy” received an outpouring of support, highlighting the powerful connection between Onóir’s art and Cork’s collective identity.

Beasley Street Art Installations

Beyond her individual artwork, Onóir is passionate about bringing art to public spaces. As her time as Market Development Manager for the Maldron Hotel South Mall, she spearheaded the Beasley Street redevelopment project. Collaborating with Cork City Council and renowned artist Peter Martin, Onóir commissioned two striking murals that have transformed Beasley Street into a vibrant cultural landmark and dining destination. This project demonstrates her commitment to enriching Cork’s urban landscape and creating lasting cultural experiences.
